Punjabi singer & actor Diljit Dosanjh has grabbed headlines in both India and Pakistan over the casting of actress Hania Aamir in the movie Sardaar Ji 3. While Sardaar Ji 3 was released in overseas theaters, including in Pakistan, on June 27, the controversy is far from over in India. Film bodies like FWICE and AICWA have demanded and written to the makers of Border 2 to remove it from the upcoming movie. As per reports, Diljit is playing the character of a real-life Indian soldier in Border 2, and hence, the casting of the Punjabi singer at such a time may backfire on the makers of the movie.

Setting aside the controversy, a video is going viral on social media in which Diljit Dosanjh spills the beans about the real-life character he is playing in the movie Border 2. The video seems like Diljit was interacting with his fans during a live session and was asked about the character he is playing. Diljit revealed that he is playing the character of Sardaar Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon. However, then the Punjabi singer in the video asks his team whether he was supposed to reveal it ot not. Ultimately, the singer confirmed that he is playing the role of a war hero Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon.

Who is Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon?

Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon was a Flying Officer of the Indian Air Force. Hailing from Isewal village in Ludhiana, Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military decoration during war time, in recognition of his lone defence of Srinagar Air Base against a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) air raid during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. During the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, he was serving with the No.18 Squadron, "The Flying Bullets" of the IAF, flying the Folland Gnat fighter aircraft based at Srinagar, suggests reports.

In the meantime, there has also been a buzz that the makers of Border 2 are now considering replacing Diljit Dosanjh in the movie. Multiple reports suggest that Punjabi actor & singer Ammy Virk is in talks with the makers. However, a separate report suggests that Diljit has already shot more than half of the scenes and hence he will not be replaced in Border 2.
