Boycott Gaana App: People are greatly influenced by music, and sometimes the lyrics of the songs have such an impact that people start making real-world inferences. One such incident happened a few days back when two men murdered a Udaipur tailor, Kanhaiya Lal, and soon after that, they uploaded a video where they can be heard saying, Gustakh-e-Nabi ki ek hi saza, sar tan se Juda.

It roughly translates to, ‘Beheading is the only punishment for those who insult Prophet Muhammad.’

For the unversed, days before his murder, Kanhaiya Lal shared a social media post in support of former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) functionary Nupur Sharma, who spoke about Prophet Mohammad. Her statement stirred controversy across the nation.

People are demanding Gaana and other music streaming platforms to clamp down Gustakh-e-Nabi ki Ek hi saza, SAR tan se Juda slogans, and songs glorifying beheadings by religious fanatics. People are saying that these songs and slogans are available on many platforms like Gaana and are being downloaded and used in short videos to issue veiled threats to non-Muslims.

Beyond understanding why music streaming apps need to promote or even have such songs on their apps that promote beheading on religious grounds, wrote one user.

Another commented that Strict action should be taken against these social platforms for instigating violence against Hindus. This shows these music platforms are anti-Hindu and anti-India and they are posing a serious threat to the integrity of the nation.

Yet another commented that the government must stop the free availability of such barbaric songs that promote terrorism on major platforms and Apps like YouTube, YouTube Music, Apple Music, Gaana, JioSaavn, Hungama and Wynk.
