The political tussle between Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi seems to be intensifying in the alleged 'bribe for job case'. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann had given an ultimatum and deadline to Charanjit Singh Channi to come clean on allegations that his nephew had sought a bribe of Rs 2 crore to give a government job to a player till May 31. Punjab CM's ultimatum to Charanjit Singh Channi to come clean on his nephew will end on May 31, 2023, at 2 pm (IST). Punjab CM had told former CM Channi to come clean till May 31, or he will produce the athlete in a press conference from whom Channi's nephew had sought Rs 2 crore as a bribe in order to give government job to him. Mann’s ultimatum came three days after he addressed a gathering in Sangrur, alleging that when Channi was the Chief Minister, his nephew had demanded Rs 2 crore from a cricketer to get him a government job under the sports quota.

After Mann's ultimatum, former Punjab CM Channi went to Gurdwara Katalgarh Sahib where he made 'Ardas' and denied the claims of bribe for job case saying that he has never asked even a single penny from anyone. Lambasting the AAP government, he had stated that state government has only one agenda of arresting him, but this wont down his morale. Channi had said, "I had already made 'Ardas' at Gurdwara Katalgarh Sahib, Chamkaur Sahib where no one can take false oath. I have got everything from this pious land. I had taken oath that thousands of people might have come to me and get clicked photographs or taken jobs, but I had never asked anyone to meet my any nephew for "Cash for job" or for any transfers. If I am on wrong foot, throw me in whichever jail you want but stop playing twitter – twitter. You bring the proof and give it to the investigative agency and register the case accordingly, instead of waiting for May 31."

Although Channi's nephew assured the cricketer for the government job, but allegedly demanded for 'two'.
