Budget 2020: Education sector gets Rs 99300 crore. Finance Minister announces IND-SAT exam to provide scholarship to Asian, African students to study in India

With India going through the economic slowdown, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presented the 'Bahi Khata Budget' at the Lok Sabha today. India has been going through one of the worst economic slowdowns and this budget was one of the most anticipated.

Earlier, copies of Budget2020 have been brought to the Parliament. 

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman started her Budget speech by thanking PM Modi and said we commit ourselves to present the people of India with all humility and dedication. People have reposed faith in our economic policy.

Emphasising in the education sector, she announced Rs 99300 crore for the education sector and for the 'Study In India' initiative she said, “IND-SAT exam will be held for Asian and African students for scholarships to Study in India."

Announcing a new education policy, she said, “Now, degrees can be taken online soon and will be offered by the top 100 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked institutes.”

Explaining the roadmap she said, 150 institutes will initiate apprentice training for ‘general category students’ and that a ‘national police university’ and a ‘national forensic science university’ were proposed to be set up.
