Businessman Kuldeep Makkar had received a threatening call before entering his house in Sector-5 and firing at the Fortuner vehicle. He ignored the threatening call but the bike riders fired at his vehicle to threaten him.
Sources say that the threat to the businessman is being given by Goldie Brar, a gangster based in Canada. Sector-3 police station has registered a case against unknown bike riders on the complaint of businessman Makkar.
Chandigarh Police has increased security after the firing incident. According to the police, five police personnel have been deployed outside the mansion. Wherever the businessman or his family members go, police personnel will also accompany them. Chandigarh Police personnel are not allowing anyone to stand outside the residence.
SSP Kanwardeep Kaur informs that a special team has been formed to catch the shooters. The investigation revealed that bullets were fired at the vehicle parked inside the house from the direction of Sector-8. There is an alley between the houses, from where the shots reportedly came. The miscreants were caught on CCTV footage which is being scoured by the police. The number plate of the bike could not be ascertained due to fog.
According to police reports, aside from mining coal and kiln business, Makkar also has a club in Mohali. The police are investigating any potential enmities that Makkar may have.
