Ludhiana, February 22 - To usher a new era of world-classinfrastructure across the district, The Food, Civil Supplies, and ConsumerAffairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu on Monday kick-started three ambitiousdevelopmental projects worth Rs 64.60 crore for Ludhiana under Smart City andAtal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) programs. 

Participating in virtual launch of the Municipal Projectsworth Rs 1078 crore by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, The CabinetMinister accompanied by MLA Surinder Dawar, Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu, PunjabYouth Development Board Chairman Sukhwinder Singh Bindra, Deputy CommissionerMr Varinder Kumar Sharma, MC Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal, besidesseveral others said that these projects include Establishment of MunicipalCorporation Control Centre/Augmentation of Ludhiana Safe City worth Rs 35.96crore, Beautification and Refurbishment of Mini Rose Garden at the cost of Rs3.48 crore and setting up of 29 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant at Khanna worth Rs25.16 crore have been dedicated to the people of the district. 

Ashu said that 1442 CCTV cameras have already beenfunctioning in the city under Ludhiana Safe City and now, 300 more suchsurveillance cameras would be installed at garbage dumping sites, critical /vantage points in the city, STPs, and along Buddha Nallah besides 30 VehicleMounted Camera System and 600 external IR Illuminators with 200-meter range forbetter monitoring during zero visibility would be brought out for municipalmonitoring i.e. encroachment, garbage dumps, etc.  He said that the project would be completedwithin six months. 

The Minister further added under Beautification andRefurbishment of Mini Rose Garden project, the works of Softscaping,plantation, and grass, Amphitheatre, Fountains, Badminton Court, Pergolas,Canopy, Kids Play, Open Gym, and other areas would be carried there and theproject would be finished in next 12-months at the cost of Rs 3.48 crore. 

Similarly, he told me that work of a 29 MLD capacity SewageTreatment Plant has been completed under the AMRUT project at Khanna. 

Ashu said that the Punjab Government led by Chief MinisterCapt Amarinder Singh is making concerted efforts for the all-around developmentof Ludhiana and these key projects will pave the way for the transformation ofurban living here. 

He directed the officials to give top-most priority intimely completion of these projects so that the people were benefitted. 

The ceremony was held simultaneously in several locations ofthe district in which a large number of Municipal Councillors and residents ofthe several areas took part. 

Prominent among present occasion included Senior DeputyMayor Sham Sundar Malhotra, Deputy Mayor Sarabjit Kaur, MC Councillor MamtaAshu, DCC Ludhiana (Rural) president Karanjit Singh Soni Galib, ADC (General)Amarjit Bains, besides several others.
