Canada’s Peel Regional Police have recently achieved a great milestone in tackling the problem of drug trade as it has arrested 5 smugglers during a major operation. Out of the 5 that have been arrested, 3 are Punjabis and a drug assignment of two and a half million has been recovered from them.

Reportedly, these five drug smugglers used to do this business under the guise of a transport business from America and used to sell these drugs in Canada after bringing them from America. This consignment of drugs is being said to be the biggest consignment so far. Cash worth 70 thousand dollars has been recovered from these drug smugglers. Among the arrested persons, 3 are Punjabi, one Chinese and one belongs to Pakistani background.

As per the information, among these 3 Punjabis, 28-year-old Jaspreet Singh is a resident of Brampton, 27-year-old Ravinder Boparai is a resident of Mississauga and 38-year-old Gurdeep Gakhal is a resident of Keldon.

Peel police said in a statement that this breakthrough is a result of a months-long investigation launched in November 2021. 383 kilos of cocaine, metamorphine and ketamine have been recovered under the operation named 'Project Zucarits' by Peel police, with a market value of $25.25 million.

As per the sources, this group was using a trucking business called North King Logistics located at 50 Steeles Avenue in Milton for this work, under which they received drugs from the United States and brought them to Canada by concealing them during the transportation of goods. Apart from this, Frend Furniture, a business located at 2835 Argentia Road in Mississauga, was being used as a 'transfer hub' by commercial tractor-trailers bringing drugs.

The operation was conducted by the Special Enforcement Bureau of the Peel Police. Conducted in cooperation with Homeland Security Investigations and the Border Enforcement Security Task Force.
