For the unversed, Edmonton is the capital city of the Canadian province of Alberta. Now, coming to the video, Edmonton City Police viral video is doing rounds on social media in which a police officer was caught on camera shoving up a woman from behind and arresting her.

In the Edmonton Police video, it can be seen the woman walking away from the Police and speaking something. Suddenly, the Police shoved her and the woman fell down badly on the floor. Following that the Police went on top of her in order to control her and finally handcuffed her when another Policeman arrived. Reportedly, the incident took place on 100 Street, between 105 and 106 avenues, kitty-corner to the Hope Mission in Chinatown. Canadian media quoted a man from the spot saying that two women were having an argument and they were yelling at each other. Suddenly an EPS officer arrived there and separated them from the quarrel. Edmonton police reveals the woman was armed

After the video went viral, the Edmonton police on Friday release their official statement saying that the woman was carrying a knife and had refused to drop the weapon despite being requested multiple times by the officer. The EPS in its statement said, "The officer was driving in the area, and was flagged down by a member of the community who reported that two females, one of whom was armed with a knife, were about to fight." On row over using excessive force, the Edmonton police revealed that the officer present there acted according to the situation as he faced a decision on how much force to use as the woman was 'armed and determined', therefore, he decided 'pushing her to the ground would require the least amount of force possible to allow him to safely arrest the suspect.' Notably, the woman as arrested by the Edmonton police for for possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

As soon as the Edmonton police viral started doing rounds, netizens started coming up with their own opinions. One user wrote, "She had a knife, refused to drop it and started walking towards a crowd of people. This was the safest action to make."

Another user wrote, "You realize this makes no sense. How can she threaten him by walking away? Even if she did say something to him that’s no reason for him to pull the bully card. He shouldn’t be a cop."

"As much as I like the stereotypes, Canadians are globally the same as Americans, minus the undying love for guns and the over the top patriotism for the majority. Cops have more training here, but no amount of training can fix a cop from going on a power trip," added another user.

"The police statement was that she had a knife. They claim CCTV footage from above exonerated the officer but I don't know if that has been released," wrote another user.
