Canada police registers extortion case against 5 Punjabis including 2 girls, 3 arrested

A case has been registered against 5 Punjabis in Brampton for extortion and possession of illegal weapons. Two girls are also included in these. Three people have also been arrested in this case. According to information, the Peel Regional Police Extortion Investigative Task Force (EITF) in collaboration with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested three Punjabis under a search warrant in connection with recent incidents in the Greater Toronto Area after December 2023. Incidents include threats of property damage and illegal possession of weapons.

 

According to information received from Peel Regional Police, Gagan Ajit Singh, Hashmeet Kaur, Aymanjot Kaur, Anmoldeep Singh and Arundeep Singh have been named. Hashmeet Kaur, Aimanjot Kaur and Ajit Singh were from Brampton, Anmoldeep Singh was from Mississauga and Arundeep Singh does not have a fixed address. Gagan Ajit Singh, 23, has been charged with extortion, threatening to kill, discharging a weapon with intent, causing property damage by arson, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited item and fraud worth over $5,000. Anmoldeep Singh is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition and fraud over $5000. Both were held for a bail hearing and appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

 

Hashmeet Kaur and Aimanjot Kaur have been charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and knowledge of the unauthorized possession of a firearm. Aimanjot Kaur and Hashmeet Kaur will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton in the coming days.

 

According to reports, on January 26, 2024, a 32-year-old individual allegedly received threatening phone calls and WhatsApp messages demanding large sums of money. Arundeep Thind was named in this complaint in the extortion case. He was held for a bail hearing and appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
