Canadian PM Trudeau gets trolled as he invokes emergency powers

It is the second time in the history of Canada when such powers are being used.

Canadian PM Justin Trudeau exercised rarely-used emergency powers on Monday to end the blockades paralyzing cross-border trade at multiple locations. It is the second time in the history of Canada when such powers are being used.

"This unlawful activity has to end, and it will end," Trudeau said.

"We hope these people will decide to go home. Otherwise, there will be increasingly robust police intervention."

This action came after a convoy of huge rigs has arrived in the nation's capital after a week-long trek across Canada to protest vaccine requirements and Covid-19 regulations. Organizers claim the event will be peaceful, but police say they are bracing for a confrontation.

As it passed, it gained momentum and drew support. People gathered on roadside and overpasses, frequently waving Canadian flags and signs insulting Mr. Trudeau, applauded on trucks and accompanying vehicles snaking along highways, as shown on social media and broadcast footage.
After such a step taken by Trudeau, people started trolling him on social media. Even the former diplomats wrote against him on Twitter.

Kanwal Sibal wrote, “So much for Trudeau’s lessons and of other westerners on the right to peaceful protest in a democracy and blabbering about erosion of democracy and freedoms in India in the wake of farmers protests.  Bunch of hypocrites with Trudeau in the lead.”
