On Saturday, former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has rubbished the reports of backend talks with Congress, said that the time for rapprochement has been over. Raveen Thukral, shared the update, on the behalf of former Punjab CM, through his official Twitter handle and wrote, “Reports of backend talks with @INCIndia are incorrect. The time for rapprochement is over. The decision to part ways with the party was taken after much thought and is final. I'm grateful to #SoniaGandhi ji for her support but will not stay in Congress now”.

The rebuttal came after a media organization claimed that “senior Congress leaders are learned to be engaged in backend talks to persuade the former CM to stay in the party”.

Mr Thukral further tweeted that Capt would launch his party soon and he want to build a strong collective force in the interest of the state and its farmers. He wrote, “I will soon launch my own party and will hold talks for seat sharing with @BJP4India, breakaway Akali factions & others for #PunjabElections2022 once farmers' issue is resolved. I want to build strong collective force in interest of Punjab & its farmers: Capt Amarinder Singh”.

Captain Amarinder Singh resigned from the post of Punjab Chief Minister last month after the dramatic rebellion by Congress leaders. He was later replaced by Charanjit Singh Channi.
