Captain Amarinder Singh ordered reinstatement of Bikramjit Singh: Randhawa

Ex-CM gave reinstatement orders despite additional chief secretary home not writing in favour of said officer.

Clearing the air about the Punjab Government reinstating the then SP (D) Faridkot Bikramjit Singh facing criminal case Singh connection with the Behbal Kalan firing, the Deputy Chief Minister S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said that the orders to this effect were given by the former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.

S. Randhawa in a statement here further said that the ex Chief Minister who also held the Home Portfolio, had ordered the reinstatement of the concerned police officer while withholding just one increment despite the then Additional Chief Secretary Home not writing in favour of the officer.


S. Randhawa further mentioned that the Additional Chief Secretary Home in a note sent to the Chief Minister on July 13, 2021 had written that during the investigation the officer in question was unable to produce any concrete evidence nor he could present any new fact proving his innocence. After that, the then Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh ordered the reinstatement of the above said officer Bikramjit Singh by just withholding a single increment.
