Case of tax evasion in freight: Vigilance raids transporters; 3 drivers and agents including son of the company owner arrested

Vigilance conducted a raid on the transporters in Bathinda on Saturday. Through the neighboring states of Haryana and Delhi, several transporters deliver goods to Punjab free of charges and taxes. The Tax and Excise Department officers who work as employees have partnered with the carriers in this scheme. This scam has been exposed by vigilance.

The owner's son of the Delhi Malwa Transport Company, three drivers, and an agent have all been taken into custody by security personnel. A spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the teams were formed after getting concrete information from the Bathinda unit. Teams were instructed to inspect suspicious goods-carrying cars.

According to the Vigilance spokesperson, Mandeep Singh, son of the owner of the transport company, Jujhar, Bathinda, 3 drivers Sanjay Kumar resident of UP, Gurdas Singh resident of Bathinda, Jagsir Singh district Sirsa have been arrested, while the owner of the company Jagsir Singh is still absconding. Other revelations will be made only after Jagseer is arrested.
