Imagine a scenario when you visit your favourite football field and it is not there anyone except a giant hole that gives you chills of 'doorway to hell'. Terrifying! Isn't it? A similar kind of incident has happened in Illinois, United States. A giant sinkhole opened up in tn the middle of a football field in Alton, Illinois. As per US media reports, the Alton football field was swallowed by a sinkhole that was caused by the New Frontier Materials underground mine works. Now, Alton football field sinkhole video is now going viral on social media. 

As per reports, Alton soccer field collapse video was captured by 618 Drone Service. It showcased the large hole, estimated to be around 100 feet wide in the turf at Gordon Moore Park. The sinkhole was formed at around 10 am on Wednesday, was the result of a mine collapsing. 

Fox quoted a spokesperson saying, "The New Frontier Materials underground mine in Alton, IL today experienced a surface subsidence and opened a sink hole at Gordon Moore City Park." It is pertinent to mention here that nobody was on the field at the time of the collapse or hurt. 

New Frontier Materials representative was quoted saying, "Safety is our top priority. We will work with the city to remediate this issue as quickly and safely as possible to ensure minimal impact on the community.'

It is pertinent to mention here that the sinkhole damage costs on average at least $300 million per year. The largest recent collapsed sinkhole is believed to be in Alabama.

Sharing the video, a user wrote, "The park's new $1.2M artificial turf and parking lots are closed. Barricades and police are on site to keep onlookers away. The drop in the sinkhole is estimated to be 50+ feet deep."

Another user wrote, "I did not know that sinkholes were a thing in Illinois.  And I am an Illini alum."
