The Central government has deployed four prominent teams to states - Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to help and extend support to these state governments tackle the Covid surge. 

Last week, high-level teams were sent to Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Manipur. 

All these states have been recording an increase in the number of active coronavirus cases.

The government said in a statement, "These three-member teams will visit the districts reporting a high number of COVID-19 cases and support the state efforts towards strengthening containment, surveillance, testing, infection prevention and control measures, and efficient clinical management of the positive cases. The Central teams shall also guide in effectively managing the challenges related to timely diagnosis and follow up.”

India’s COVID-19 tally reached up to 90.95 lakh mark after the country reported 45,209 new cases in the last 24 hours. Delhi continues to record the highest number of daily cases which has been on an increasing upward slope since last week of October. 

The authorities in Haryana's Gurgaon and Faridabad, and Gautam Budh Nagar in Uttar Pradesh, have begun random testing of people coming into the cities from Delhi.

Rajasthan has imposed a night curfew in cities like Jodhpur, Kota, Bikaner, Udaipur, Ajmer, Alwar, Bhilwara and state capital Jaipur amidst the fear of rising coronavirus cases in the state. 

Only, people supplying essential and emergency services will be allowed to be out on roads, in between 8 pm and 6 am in the state.
