The government has now asked states to impose strict lockdown as large number of migrant labourers and workers are returning bcak to their homes.

The new directions clearly seeks fastening of district and state borders. All states must ensure that there is no movement of people across cities or on highways, only movement of goods is allowed.

The Centre has also told the state governments that DMs and SPs should be made personally responsible for implementation of these directions which have been issued under the DM Act.

The Centre has also urged the states to provide food and shelter to these migrant workers who are on the move.

Soon after PM Modi announced nation-wide 21 day lockdown, thousands of migrant workers from Mumbai, Delhi and other metros started moving towards their native villages.

The massive migration has posed a huge risk of coronavirus spread and threatens to defeat the purpose of the nationwide lockdown.
