After a most successful stint as the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Amit Shah, who is called the "Chanakya" of modern day Indian politics, was on Thursday sworn in as a cabinet minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Council of Ministers.
Shah has been given one of the most important - Home portfolio, which was earlier held by Rajnath Singh – the official no. 2 in the Narendra Modi Cabinet, who has now been given the defense portfolio.
After PM Modi, Shah was the man who built the party's campaign systematically around the nationalism plank and the Prime Minister's popularity.
