A girl student of Government College for Girls (GCG) of Sector 42, Chandigarh committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of the building. The guard of the college saw the girl standing on the fourth floor of the building. He suspected that the girl could do something wrong. He went after her as she jumped. Immediately, the girl was rushed to the hospital but she could not be saved.

The student has been identified as Ishita, a resident of sector 39. The 19-year-old was pursuing her graduation from college. Ishita's mother works in Punjab Police. She revealed that Ishita was suffering from mental stress and she was also taking medicine for it.

Ishita has not left any suicide note. Along with Narinder Pal, the gatekeeper of the college, there were two other eyewitnesses. Police said that no one's role is visible in the investigation so far. Sector 36 police station has registered a case and started an investigation.
