In protest of setting up a biogas plant in Mushakabad village of Samrala, people from 10 nearby villages have gathered on the Chandigarh-Ludhiana National Highway in Samrala and staged an indefinite protest. Due to this, the National Highway has been completely blocked, causing trouble for the commuters.

The villagers say that the Chandigarh-Ludhiana National Highway will remain closed until the biogas plant is closed. Villagers say that this plant will spread diseases in the area and pollution will increase significantly, which will result in major harm to your health. Farmers and political leaders also participated in this protest.

The protesters say that the construction of this plant will increase the level of pollution in their area as the entire area is a green zone. The plant will pollute the water and there is a fear of disease spreading. Since there is a residential area at some distance, gas leakage can cause a major accident. For this reason, they will not allow the plant to be built at any cost. They say that if the government wants development then such plants should be set up in industrial areas and the defunct industries should be restarted, whereas this is just a policy that kills people.
