In a major breakthrough for the Chandigarh Police, the sensational 'morphed' photos leak of at least 50 female students of a famous Sector 25 school has been solved. On Friday, the Chandigarh Police arrested a 13-year-old student of the same school for editing and leaking obscene photos of 50 girl students on Snapchat.
As per reports, the Chandigarh Police nabbed the 13-year-old student based on technical evidence. Following his arrest, cops confiscated the minor's smartphone which was allegedly used to leak Chandigarh sector 25 female students' photos on Snapchat. Subsequently, the minor was transferred to the Juvenile Home in Sector 25.
Chandigarh Police in its official statement was quoted as saying, "The investigation into this case, involving the creation of a counterfeit Snapchat account for the distribution of objectionable photographs, was carried out by the PS Cyber Crime. All inappropriate content has been removed from social media platforms."
"One juvenile has been taken into custody within Chandigarh, with a mobile device containing the manipulated images now in police possession. This device will be sent to the CFSL for forensic analysis and data recovery. The apprehended juvenile has been presented before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB)."
The Principal of the school was also quoted saying that the school administration 'will take appropriate disciplinary measures against the detained juvenile in accordance with the school’s regulations'.
It is pertinent to mention here that the arrested juvenile studied in the same class in which other girls were studying. The Principal of the school was further quoted saying, "Access to the portal is granted exclusively to parents and teachers. While it is conceivable that parents may share their login and password details with their children, we have initiated educational sessions aimed at raising awareness among students regarding the prevention of cybercrime."
Chandigarh Sector 25 School Students Leaked Photo Controversy
As per reports, the bizarre incident took place on October 10, 2023. Reportedly, a girl's father had gone to take her from school after all the periods were over. However, the girl came crying to her father. When her father asked the reason for this, she informed him that there was a Snapchat portal for seniors. Apart from her, objectionable pictures of many other girls have been shared on that portal.
Parents alleged the photos of the girls had been downloaded from the school's portal. The portal reportedly connects parents, school students, and school staff. As a result, the parents sense that the person who leaked and edited girl student photos may be part of the school.
