
As the number of Omicron cases is increasing inIndia, adding to it one positive case is found in Chandigarh. A 20-year-old internationaltraveler came to India to meet his relatives. He was tested Covid-19 positiveon December 1 and quarantined. His samples were sent to NCDC, New Delhi.
On Saturday evening, the Chandigarh healthdepartment got the results of genome sequencing from NCDC, New Delhi. The reportsdeclared the sample Omicron positive.
His family members were also quarantined but testednegative. They were tested again on Sunday. The reports of the family membersare still to come. The traveler wasvaccinated in Italy with Pfizer vaccine.
After the first Omicron positive case, ChandigarhHealth Department appealed the people to follow the guidelines. Make sureeveryone must wear masks and maintain social distancing. Those who are eligiblemust get themselves vaccinated as soon as possible.
It is India’s 34 Omicron case so far. The number ofomicron cases in country is increasing daily. Maharashtra has the most numberof cases with a total of 17 cases.
