Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Parvesh Verma on Friday visited multiple ghats in Delhi to see the preparations for the Chhath Puja 2022. However, Parvesh Verma's visit to Yamuna Ghats did not go well as he got involved in a heated verbal argument with a Delhi Jal Board (DJB) official over Yamuna pollution. Devotees in large numbers are expected to take a holy dip in the Yamuna on October 30 and 31 for Chhath Puja and therefore the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government has been working to make the Yamuna a less polluted water body. However, Parvesh Verma spotted the use of chemicals by the DJB official in Yamuna and as a result, Verma got involved in a heated argument.

In the viral Parvesh Verma DJB official video, it can be seen the BJP scolding a man who is apparently from the Delhi Jal Board for allegedly using harmful chemicals in Yamuna. In the video he can be heard saying, "In a span of 8 years you are now finally realizing that it is approved." The DJB Official replies, "Why are you getting angry sir?" The BJP MP again screams, "You are killing people for the past 8 years", on this the DJB official says, "Who told you that people are getting killed by this chemical?"

Then the BJP MP says, "Chal tu dubki laga kar dikha (Show me by taking a dip by yourself)". The DJB official replies, "Sir, this chemical is US FDA-approved". The MP then says "Tumhare sar par dal dun ye chemical (Should I pour this chemical on your head?)" On the other hand, the DJB official kept on telling that whatever the chemicals they are using to disinfect the Yamuna is scientifically approved, however, the BJP MP kept on yelling. Lastly, the DJB official said that if he thinks he is committing any crime or any wrong doings, he is free to lodge any complaint against him.

For first time, Chhath Puja declared as Dry Day in Delhi

Interestingly, in another video, it was showcased that the locals came in support of the DJB official and scolded Parvesh. Parvesh was schooled to behave properly with an official as he has reached the position based on his merit and not by doing any kind of politics.

Dry Day in Delhi on Chhath Puja

Delhi LG V K Saxena using his special powers has declared 'dry day' on the occasion of Chhath and has also written a letter to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asking him to deal with the issue of toxic froth in Yamuna before the festival on Sunday. In his letter to Kejriwal on Friday, the LG expressed concern over pollution and foam formation at certain places in the Yamuna."The issue regarding foam and pollution in Yamuna is of grave concern and if left unattended may prove to be injurious to devotees. Accordingly, it needs to be redressed urgently," Saxena wrote in his letter.
