Maintaining the long-followed tradition that calls for averting evil and bringing good luck, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel once again turned up at the religious congregation of Gaura Gauri worship in the district of Durg and got whipped on his wrist as part of the tradition, which he has followed for years at stretch.

The tradition called ‘sonta prahar’ or blow from the whip is believed to drive away all forms of evil powers and bring good luck into the lives of those who practice. A note was released from his office which also highlighted the same as mentioned.

CM Baghel posted the video of the ceremony through his official Twitter handle with the caption in Hindi that says, “Strike of Sonta, following the tradition.” Informing about the rituals a press release was released from the administration that said, The Chief Minister practices takes part in this ritual every year to pray for prosperity and development of the state and its people.
