Kejriwal announces Rs 5 lakh compensation for kin of deceased in Delhi hotel fire

Delhi government has also ordered for an inquiry into the incident

The Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal has announced Rs 5 lakh as compensation to the kin's of the people who died in a major fire in a central Delhi hotel.

After visiting the hotel, Kejriwal said, “We have ordered a magisterial enquiry. We will try to know the cause of deaths in the fire and violations if any of the building laws."

"Local MLA and officers have told me that there are many hotels violating the norms in the area. We are investigating how this hotel got NOC and if it violated the norms," the CM added. 

Celebrations of completing four years in government was cancelled by the Aam Aadmi due to the major fire incident occured in the state.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia tweeted, “Due to the tragic fire incident in Karol Bagh where several people have lost their lives, today Vishal Dadlani's program scheduled for this evening (12 Feb) in Delhi, stands cancelled. Our heartfelt condolences for the grieving families.”

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain inspected the Arpit Palace hotel in Central Delhi's Karol Bagh where 17 people lost their lives and 2 injured in the fire incident.
