Tightening the noose around the gangsters, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur, successfully apprehended two notorious gangsters—Akashdeep Singh and Gaurav Kapila—after a fierce encounter.
Providing the Details, CP Jalandhar said that FIR No. 96 dated 11.05.2024 was registered against the accused under sections 109, 190, and 191(3) BNS, 25 ARMS ACT at Police Station Basti Bawa Khel Jalandhar, and an additional offence under sections 61(2) and 103(1) BNS was committed. The accused Akashdeep Singh, alias Akash, son of Harinder Singh, resident of house number 331/6, Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Nagar, Jalandhar, has 16 cases are already registered him whereas Gaurav Kapila, son of Sanjiv Kumar and a resident of House No. NC 154, Kot Kishan Chand, Jalandhar, has 4 FIRs registered against him.
She further said that the duo was tracked and arrested in Metro Town Society under the jurisdiction of Police Station Dhakoli, Mohali. Upon spotting the police team, both gangsters opened fire in an attempt to escape. The police retaliated swiftly, resulting in a brief but intense encounter. During the exchange of fire, both gangsters sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to the hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. An FIR No. 54 dated 20.05.2025 under Sections 109, 132, 221, 324(2) BNS, 25 ARMS ACT was registered against the accused at Police Station Dhakoli, District Mohali and 2 pistols, 3 live cartridges and 6 spent cartridges were recovered from the accused.
