The beginning of the month of July has come with changes in various rules, ranging from UPI to Tatkal ticket booking. One of the changes was reported related to Tatkal tickets, which states that if a person’s Aadhaar card is not linked with the IRCTC account, then the individual will not be able to book a ticket.
The new rule explains that verification of Aadhaar is necessary to book a Tatkal ticket, meaning that a small mistake in phone number will result in a problem in booking a train ticket. But how is booking related to phone numbers? Here is a detailed explanation of the above point -
Deactivating the number linked to important services like IRCTC -
A common mistake related to phone numbers has been observed among the people, i.e., they don’t prefer recharging their numbers for a long time, due to which the number remains inactive, resulting in closure or reassigning of the number.
If important services like IRCTC have been linked to such numbers, then your bank or Aadhaar may stop receiving OTPs, which are crucial for verification processes. This can directly impact your ability to book Tatkal tickets or access your IRCTC account.
What else should be done -
If your Aadhaar-linked number is not your primary number, keep it active by recharging it periodically, even if you don’t use it often.
Alternatively, if it’s inconvenient to maintain the old number, update your Aadhaar with your current active number. This way, you won’t face issues receiving OTPs for critical services like banking, ticket booking, or government schemes.
