In the Rajya Sabha, Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan expressed her concern about the impact of cinema on society, particularly among the youth. She emphasized the influence of films like 'Kabir Singh,' 'Pushpa,' and 'Animal,' stating that they have a significant effect on the audience. Ranjan recounted an incident involving her daughter and other children leaving the theatre during the screening of 'Animal' due to its portrayal of violence and misogyny, which she found distressing.

The MP also raised objections to the use of the song "Arjan Vailly" in the film, citing its historical significance in Sikh history and expressing offense at its portrayal in the context of gang warfare. She talked about the negative impact that films like 'Animal' have on society particularly on young viewers and questioned the decision-making process of the Central Board of Film Certification in approving such content.

Regarding the film 'Animal,' which features actors Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, and Rashmika Mandanna, the Chattisgarh MP expressed dismay at its portrayal of a toxic father-son relationship within the criminal underworld. Despite its box office success, she criticized the glorification of negative characters and disrespect towards women in the film, suggesting that it could perpetuate harmful behaviour in society.

Ranjan's concerns reflect a broader debate about the responsibility of filmmakers and regulatory bodies in shaping the content of films and their potential impact on society. The juxtaposition of 'Animal' with other films, such as 'Sam Bahadur,' highlights the diversity of narratives in Indian cinema and the choices available to audiences.

The film showcases a toxic father-son relationship set against the backdrop of crime and the underworld. The movie released in theatres on December 1 and competed at the box office with Meghna Gulzar's Sam Bahadur.
