Lok Sabha elections 2024 can be announced any time in the coming days. BJP and Congress have released their first lists. But no decision has been taken yet on any ticket from Punjab. However the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting is being held again in Delhi where it is being speculated, discussions may be held on the Punjab tickets to be provided.

As per sources, there is a relative consensus in the party regarding some of the Lok Sabha constituencies including Jalandhar, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Gurdaspur, Bathinda and Patiala. According to Congress sources, among the current 7 MPs, the decision may be pending on the seats of Amritsar, Khadur Sahib and Sri Anandpur Sahib. The reason behind this is the negative reports received in their internal surveys from these areas.

According to information received, it is likely that Congress will field Charanjit Channi from Jalandhar to rival Aam Aadmi Party’s Sushil Rinku in Jalandhar.

Sources inform that there is a consensus among the party to field Congress state party President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring to contest for the Lok Sabha seat in Bathinda. In Amritsar, Congress MP Gurpreet Singh Aujla is likely to contest the elections once again while congress is likely to put up Navjot Singh Sidhu from the Patiala constituency. MLA Pratap Bajwa is likely to be the contender for the Lok Sabha seat from Congress in Gurdaspur, as per our sources.

From Ludhiana, sources inform that Congress is likely to field MP Ravneet Bittu to compete for the Lok Sabha. Ravneet Bittu, along with Ex-MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu were put under Judicial custody after Ravneet Bittu had locked the Municipal Corporation’s main office during a protest.

It is also important to note that according to reports, Devendra Yadav discussed the tickets of sitting MPs with local people and Congress workers during his Punjab tour. A report has also been prepared, which he along with Punjab Chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and Pratap Singh Bajwa had taken to the CWC meeting yesterday.
