With Congress likely to lose 'Hindi-heartland', Mallikarjun Kharge calls INDIA alliance meeting

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday called an emergency meeting of the INDIA alliance after the Election Commission's early trends showcased the grand old party losing the 'Hindi heartland'. As per reports, Mallikarjun Kharge called a meeting of the INDIA alliance on December 6, 2023. A newswire report says, "Congress Party's national president Mallikarjun Kharge dials alliance partners for a meeting in Delhi."

 

The Election Commission of India's (ECI) early trends suggest a big win for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 'Hindi-heartland' i.e. Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. In Telangana, Congress is leading, while the Bharat Rashtra Samithi - BHRS is trailing behind. In Chhattisgarh, the BJP is in the lead at 42 seats while the ruling Congress is at 37 seats. In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP is leading on 150 seats, while Congress is leading at 64 seats.  In Rajasthan, the BJP has touched the 100 mark, while the ruling Congress has 78 seats. In Telangana, Congress seems to be coming into power as the INC is leading at 57 seats, while BHRS is at 32 seats.
