After the suspension of four Congress MPs in the Lok Sabha was withdrawn, the topic of inflation was raised. Congress MP Manish Tewari started the discussion on inflation. Taking his Punjabi touch during the speech, he said, "Pehla ta mucch di ladai ne maar lya, Duja yaar di judai ne maar lia, Teeja rabb di khudai ne maar lya, aur baki jo bchya oh mehngai ne maar lya"
He claimed that the nation's inflation rate, which has been double digits for the past 14 months, is the highest it has been in thirty years. Daily necessities like rice, curd, paneer, pencils, and sharpeners now have higher GST rates. Even the children were not spared by the government.

Manish Tewari claimed that although the government's budget may have improved, household budgets across the nation have been devastated.

The government had assured the opposition that there would be a discussion on inflation in the Lok Sabha on Monday, but the house had to be adjourned twice a day amid protests by opposition parties. However, later the proceedings of the house started with the discussion on inflation.
