An FIR was filed in Nurmahal Police Station in Jalandhar Rural after a video went viral on social media with the claims that liquor is being distributed among the people. The video was filmed secretly in Nakodar outside a liquor shop in which multiple crates of alcohol were placed inside an SUV. Interestingly, a Congress leader named Dr. Navjot Dahiya was also seen standing outside the shop when another person was loading the liquor crates inside the car. However, Navjot Dahiya was only visible in the video and did not do anything. As a result, True Scoop News reached out to Navjot Dahiya who is said to be a close confidante of former Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi over the incident.
Dr. Dahiya informed True Scoop News that he was not involved in the incident. Dahiya confirmed that he was present at the location, however, to seek door-to-door votes for the Congress in Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Dahiya pointed out that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has opened liquor shops at every step, therefore, him visible in the Nakodar liquor distribution viral video is normal.
Punjab liquor distribution viral video
As per the FIR, Sahil Ranga, Circle Inspector of Excise Department of Nakodar district, was on election duty in the region. Ranga reportedly got a call from the SDM office that FST Team in Sanghe Jagir in Nurmahal have caught liquor, therefore, reach the spot and take action. The FST Team had stopped the Scorpio that was carrying liquor. The person who was nabbed in the incident was identified as Diljinder Singh, S/O Jaswinder Singh. Daljinder lives in a village in Nakodar. The FST Team then searched the house where the car was stopped. Therefore, the authorities found 15 crates of Royal Stag liquor in the bathroom.
Diljinder Singh was nabbed red-handed when he was putting crates of alcohol in the car. There were a total of 180 bottles found in the 15 crates. The Police have sent the liquor to sample testing.
