In over a couple of months, yet another BJP leader has been suspended by the party over the derogatory and igniting remarks on Prophet Mohammad. The accused in the case of this time is the controversial BJP legislator from Telangana T. Raja.

The party leader has been arrested by the Hyderabad police earlier today amidst protests against the leader in the city. It is not the first time T. Raja has made the news over his inflammatory remarks.

In this segment of the story, we will take you on a round to his political journey and a series of events explaining what actually makes him this controversial.

T. Raja of the BJP is a two-time MLA from the Goshamahal constituency in Hyderabad and is also the party’s chief whip in the Telangana assembly.

In 2018 despite a huge uproar from the ruling TRS, Raja successfully defended his constituency and was one among five BJP MLAs who reached the Vidhan Sabha from BJP’s ticket.

Member of the fringe organization Bajrang Dal, Raja started his political journey in 2009 as a member of TDP. He made a switch to BJP in 2013 right before 2014’s Lok Sabha election.

Raja is a dedicated worker on the line of safety for cows. In this line, Raja announced his resignation from the BJP to work for the safety of the cow and alleged the ruling TRS of not taking measures for the safety of cows in the state.

This was his 3rd resignation from the party but every time he re-joined citing a separate pledge for the party.

The early life of the controversial leader:

T. Raja was born on April 15th, 1977 in a Lodh family of Dhulpet in Hyderabad. His birthplace Dhulpet has always been at the center of illegal liquor and intoxicative substances.

The Lodh community of Dhulpet claims themselves to be coming from the generation of Rajputs. Whereas, the same community is marked as OBC in several other states.

T. Raja has always presented himself to be coming from the humble background of a middle-class family who met their needs through craftsmanship, which he says he has also done in the early stages of his career. Raja in his early life and career was selling music and video cassettes to which he stopped and later shifted to the business of electric wiring.

Criminal Background: Famous by the name of Rowdy Sheeter with over 75 cases to name:

The BJP leader has been linked to a huge list of controversies. Up until today, a whopping 75 police cases have been lodged against him.

The Assistant Commissioner of Hyderabad Police M. Narendra Reddy leveled Raja as the Rowdy Sheeter on December 19th, 2019. He went on to say, that Raja’s name has been included in the list of those against whom the Mangalhat police have released the History sheet.

As per the affidavit filed by T. Raja in the 2018 assembly elections a total of 43 criminal cases were lodged against him out of which the police have filed the charge sheet in 16 of them.

Raja is facing charges for spreading religious enmity in 17 cases, and 9 cases of hurting religious sentiments. Apart from all these T. Raja also faces charges of spreading hate and rioting.

In February 2022 ahead of the UP assembly elections T. Raja threatened the voters of running bulldozers over the houses of the voters if they didn’t vote for the BJP after which the election served him with notice of intimidating the voters.

On September, 2nd 2020, Facebook-branded Raja as a dangerous individual and cited the reasons behind his often usage of hate speech banned from all its platforms.

However, defending himself Raja said he doesn’t have an official Facebook page and all the accounts running by his name are fake.

The list is long over the kind of statement he has issued up until now, In July 2018, T. Raja said the people under illegal occupancy in the country from Bangladesh and the Rohingya Muslims must leave the country else they must be shot.

In 2017 Raja said it was his ambition cum dream to build the Ram Temple in Ayodhya fulfilling which he is even ready to die or if needed to kill.

The very same year he went on to say old Hyderabad was mini Pakistan and claimed that if an investigation is launched you will find bombs in every house.

Threatened the theatre owners to pull down the poster and should not premier ‘Padmavat’ or else their property will be set to fire.

T. Raja’s remarks on Prophet:

On August 22nd, yesterday the controversial leader said released a video against comedian Munawar Faruqui in which he issued derogatory remarks on Prophet Mohammad.

Later when the controversy erupted over his statement he termed it a joke. When the video went viral people thronged the streets to protest against Raja’s statement.

The crowd went on to chant the threatening “Gustakhe Nabi ki ek hi saja, sir tan se juda…” calling for Raja’s arrest.
