
India on Monday reported 29,164fresh cases of coronavirus, pushing the country’s tally to 88.74 lakh. Previously, India recorded less than 30,000 cases in mid-July.
Less number of cases may also mean that low detection on Monday due to lesser testing over the weekend. The tests have remained below 10 lakh for the last four days now.
There are 4,53,401 active covid cases, while the number of people who recovered from the disease is 82,90,371. The death toll touched 1,30,519 after 449 new fatalities were reported. Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Monday said there was “no chance” of another lockdown in the city. Stating that the city had already seen its third peak of Covid-19 infections, he said “The virus cannot be contained through lockdown, people should protect themselves by wearing face masks. I can tell you the peak of the third wave is gone.”
Delhi on Monday reported 3,797 infection cases and 99 deaths.

# West Bengal is witnessing a declining trend in covid cases. The decrease in daily cases continued on Monday as only 3,012 new infections were reported, while 4,376 people recovered from the disease. The recovery rate in the state has increased to 91.81 per cent. Bengal’s active caseload decreased by a huge number from 1,417 to 27,897 cases. The aggregate number of discharged persons increased to 3,98,952.
# In Rajasthan the deadly coronavirus infection has claimed 12 more lives and infected 2,162 people on Saturday. The death toll increased to 2,056, while the confirmed number of cases rose to 2,23,633. There are 18,053 active cases in the state.
# With 72 fresh cases, Puducherry caseload increased to 36,409 on Tuesday. With no deaths being reported, the positivity and recovery rates were 1.67 per cent and 96.01 per cent respectively. The Union Territory has 843 active covid cases, while 34,358 patients have recovered. The toll remained 608.
# Five most affected states by cases, according to the Union Health Ministry:-
# Jharkhand reported 166 new cases on Tuesday. Four fatalities took the state’s death toll to 928. Presently, there are 2,754 active cases in the state. The state has so far reported 1,06,230 cases of COVID-19, while as many as 1,02,548 patients have already recovered.
# Sikkim recorded 25 new Coronavirus cases and two more deaths on Monday. There are 293 active cases in the state, while 4,053 patients have recovered from the infection.
# After Assam reported one fatality on Monday, the state’s death toll increased to 964, while 186 new cases took the tally to 2,10,454. The total number of COVID-19 tests conducted in the state so far crossed the 50-lakh mark with 19,372 samples tested during the day. 2,06,041 people have recovered from COVID-19 in Assam. The number of active cases in the state stands at 3,446.
# On Monday Haryana recorded 2,153 new cases pushing the total number of cases to 2,02,027. Punjab reported 445 new cases of COVID-19 and the union territory of Chandigarh 82 cases. The total number of active cases in Haryana is 19,342 while 1,80,647 patients have been cured of the disease. The death toll in the state has gone up to 2038.

# Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 12,65,42,907 samples tested for COVID-19 up to November 16. Of these, 8,44,382 samples were tested yesterday.
# With 1,110 new COVID-19 cases, Chhattisgarh's caseload rose to 2,11,644 and 26 fatalities pushed the death toll to 2,604 on Monday. The number of recoveries increased to 1,90,463 after 140 people were discharged from hospitals, while 1,174 patients completed their home isolation during the day. Presently, the state has 18,577 active cases.
# With 952 fresh covid cases, Telangana’s caseload increased to 2.59 lakh while three fatalities took the death toll to 1,410. As many as 13,732 patients are under treatment whereas 38,245 samples were tested on November 16.
# On 16 November, Kerala recorded 2,710 fresh COVID-19 cases, pushing the state’s count to 5,28,290, while 6,567 patients have recovered. With 4,54,774 recoveries so far, active cases dropped to 15,765.
