Coronavirus Updates: India detects more than 50,000 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours; highest numbers reported in Kerala and Delhi

Globally, Coronavirus cases have reached 48 million while the number of fatalities recorded stood at 1.2 million. The United States continued to remain the worst-affected followed by India and Brazil.

India registered 50,210 fresh covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, as per the health ministry data on Thursday. On Wednesday, 46,253 fresh cases were registered and on Tuesday, the number was 38,310. The rising number of daily infections indicates that the spread of the infection has remained constant amid the festive season. Though the number of recoveries is ascending, the number of active cases remain under 5 lakh. 

Presently, active Covid-19 cases in the country are 5,27,962, lower than Wednesday’s active cases count which was 5,33,787.  Patients discharged are over 55,000. While a total of 704 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours. India’s total coronavirus tally now stands at 83,64,086. 

Health ministry data shows that 16 states and Union territories have cases per million lower than the national average which makes up to 6,025. 

Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Nagaland, Punjab, Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Assam have lower cases per million.

Kerala, Delhi, Maharashtra and West Bengal are recording a spike in the number of new Covid-19 cases.


COVID-19 latest updates:-

# Delhi reported 6,842 new cases on Wednesday. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has admitted that the third wave of infections has hit the national capital, adding that rising air pollution was worsening the Covid situation. He has urged people to avoid bursting crackers during Diwali.


# On Thursday, Arunachal Pradesh's Covid-19 tally increased to 15,160 after 77 more people tested positive for the infection. The state's virus death toll reached to 

43 after one person died of the virus. 

# COVID-19 tally rose to 2,97,274 today after 1,385 more people tested positive for the infection in Odisha. Fourteen people succumbed to the infection, pushing the state's coronavirus death toll to 1,378. 

# Andaman and Nicobar Islands COVID-19 tally increased to 4,389 on Thursday as 17 more people tested positive for the virus.



# Telangana recorded 1,539 new coronavirus cases pushing the tally to 2,45,682. The state’s death toll increased to 1,362 after five patients died from the disease. 

# With 301 new cases, Jharkhand's COVID-19 tally climbed to 1,03,188 on Thursday, while three fresh fatalities pushed the state's coronavirus death toll to 894. The state now has 4,814 active coronavirus cases, while 97,480 people have recovered.

# According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 11,42,08,384 samples have been tested for COVID-19 up to November 4 with 12,09,425 samples being tested on Wednesday.



# Mizoram reported 65 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 2,958. The state has 521 active cases, while 2,435 patients have been discharged. Two persons have succumbed to the disease in Mizoram till date. 

# Puducherry reports 125 new Covid-19 infections taking total cases to 35,550 out of which 1,829 are active patients.
