India is going through lockdown due to coronavirus and another new virus has been surfaced in China named 'Hantavirus'. News broke out on Monday that a person died due to hantavirus in the Yunnan province of China. (Many people have also been frightened by this new virus.) However, scientists have shared many information about this, which you need to know about.
Coronavirus Vs Hantavirus
According to the research done so far on Covid-19, the coronavirus is more dangerous than the hantavirus. Coronavirus spreads through Person to Person and Surface, whereas this is not the case with the Hantavirus. Earlier, there were cases of Hantavirus in India and it was easily controlled. Therefore, there is no need to panic with the virus, but to avoid this, you must know all the information.
Symptoms of hantavirus
Early symptoms of HPS include fatigue, fever, and muscle aches, along with headaches, dizziness, chills and abdominal problems. If left untreated, it can lead to coughing and shortness of breath and can be fatal, with a mortality rate of 38 percent, according to CDC.
While the initial symptoms of HFRS too remain the same, it can cause low blood pressure, acute shock, vascular leakage, and acute kidney failure. HPS can't be passed on from person to person, while HFRS transmission between people is extremely rare.
As per the CDC, rodent population control is the primary strategy for preventing hantavirus infections.
