Coronavirus Updates: With 45,231 new COVID-19 cases, India’s tally surges to 8.22 million

Globally, 46,804,423 coronavirus cases have been recorded. While 33,742,731 have recovered, 1,205,044 have died so far. The US, the worst-hit country, has 9,473,720 cases, followed by India, which has 8,038,765 cases, Brazil - 5,545,705 and Russia - 1,636,781.

According to the Union health ministry on Monday morning, India reported 45,231 new Covid-19 cases and 496 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally over 8.22 million. The number of active cases stood at 561,908 and India’s death toll reached 122,607, as per the health ministry’s data.

COVID-19 related recoveries stood at 53,285, while 7,544,798 patients have been cured of the infection so far in the last 24 hours. The national recovery rate has improved to 91.68%. On Sunday, 7,491,513 total recovered cases were reported and 76% of these were concentrated in 10 states and Union territories. Karnataka, Kerala and Maharashtra had contributed the maximum to the new recovered cases with more than 7,000 single day recoveries. More than 4,000 new recoveries were added by Delhi and West Bengal.

The ministry on Sunday said that active cases in India have declined below 600,000 marks after three months. “Presently India’s total active caseload is 5,70,458. The active cases have dropped to only 6.97% of the total positive cases of the country demonstrating a steady falling percentage of the total cases,” the ministry added. 

The ministry further added, “This sustained achievement is the result of collaborative action by States/UTs under the Centre’s strategy of comprehensive testing, timely tracking, quick hospitalization and adherence to the Standard Treatment Protocol which has ensured a standardised quality of medical care across the public and private hospitals and for the home isolation cases.”

India has the lowest cases per million in the world and average cases per million stand at 5,930.

# A team of doctors from the Delhi-based All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) under the Ayush Ministry has found that Ayurveda interventions like Ayush kwatha and Fifatrol tablets can be effective in mild to moderate cases of Covid-19 infection in a "very short period" with "complete regression of symptoms".

# The Covid-19 tally of Andaman and Nicobar Islands increased to 4,340 on Monday after eight more people tested positive for the infection, One more person died, pushing the death toll to 60.

# 12 more fatalities due to coronavirus were reported in Punjab on Sunday, pushing the death toll to 4,214 in the state. With 325 new cases pushed the count to 1,33,975. There are 4,195 active Covid-19 cases in Punjab now.

# Gujarat reported 860 new covid-19 positive cases on Sunday, pushing the infection tally to 1,73,804 and 1,128 patients recovered. The total number of recovered cases in the state is 1,57,247 while the recovery rate is now 90.47 per cent. With five deaths, the state's Covid-19 fatality count increased to 3,724.

#  According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) a total 11,07,43,103 samples tested for Covid-19 up to 1st November. Of these, 8,55,800 samples were tested yesterday.

# Mizoram has a total 2,757 Covid-19 cases, of which 433 are active cases while 2,323 people have been discharged so far. 

# Telangana reported 922 new COVID-19 cases taking the tally to 2,40,970. Seven more deaths took the toll to 1,348.  

# Rajasthan recorded 1,754 new covid-19 cases on November 1, pushing the tally to 1,98,747. 

# With over 16.83 lakh cases, Maharashtra's COVID-19 tally remains the highest among Indian states and union territories, according to the Union Health Ministry's.

# Coronavirus caseload increased to 1,02,087 on Monday after 326 more people tested positive for the infection in Jharkhand. The state's coronavirus death toll rose to 885 after one death related to the disease was reported.
