India records 72,049 new COVID-19 cases and 986 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally over 67-lakh. Total case in the country stands at 67,57,132 including 9,07,883 active cases. By far 57,44,694 patients have been cured/discharged cases and 1,04,555 deaths have been registered. The national recovery rate now stands at 85.02per cent. 

According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s report on October 7, the following states recorded cases stands at Maharashtra 14,65,911, Andhra Pradesh: 7,29,307, Karnataka: 6,57,705, Tamil Nadu: 6,30,408, and Uttar Pradesh: 4,20,937, these numbers include recoveries, active and death cases. 

Researchers claimed that a Chinese experimental coronavirus vaccine that is being developed by the Institute of Medical Biology under the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences has displayed positive results in an early-stage clinical trial and is safe for use. 

The US Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday made public its guidance for issuing emergency approval for a Covid-19 vaccine. In its briefing, it made it clear that they want to see a follow-up two months report after trial volunteers have their second dose.  

Coronavirus latest developments: 

# The Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu have reported the highest recovery rate at 96.70 per cent, followed by the Andaman and Nicobar Islands at 93.80per cent while the COVID-19 tally in the UT rose to 3,912 on Wednesday and 13 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said.

#1,99,857 samples were tested for Covid-19 on 6th October. Total of 8,22,71,654 samples tested in the country up to 6th October: ICMR 

#79 new Covid-19 cases and 50 recoveries recorded in Ladakh on 6th October. The number of active COVID cases now stands at 1195 (904 in Leh district and 291 in Kargil district): Department of Information & Public Relations, Ladakh.

# Mizoram on Tuesday reported 20 new Covid-19 cases, taking total cases to 2,148 including 1,887 discharges. 

# Kailash Trivedi, a Congress MLA from Rajasthan died in a private hospital in Gurgaon on Tuesday. By far 17 serving legislators have died from the infection in the country, including 3 MPs, 12 MLAs and two MLCs. 

# According to the Government SOP for the upcoming festive season, the government allowed festive events only outside the containment zones. No touching of idols, holy books, wearing masks mandatory. 

# India is planning to operate two Vande Bharat flights from Delhi and the Chinese city of Guangzhou on October 23 and 30 to facilitate the travel of Indians stranded due to the Covid-19 lockdowns. 

# Telangana has reported 2,154 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 2.04 lakh. Eight more deaths increased the toll to 1,189. The total number of people recovered in the state stands at 1.77 lakh, while 26,551 patients are under treatment.

# The Drugs Controller General of India has given permission for conducting Phase-1 human clinical trials for an "antisera" that was developed by injecting inactivated SARS-CoV-2 in horses and can be a potential treatment for COVID-19, ICMR officials said on Tuesday.
