A 26-year-old, Dr Srishti Hallari was tested positive on June 17, 2020, for the first time. At that time, she was working at the BMC Covid Centre. For the second time, she was tested positive for the virus on 29 May 2021 and recently she was again tested positive of the virus, for the third time, on July 11, 2021.

Dr has received both jabs of the Covishield vaccine. Dr Shristi and her family were vaccinated together. The first jab was taken on March 8, 2021, and the second jab was taken on April 29, 2021.

For the third time, the whole family is tested positive. All the four members – mother, father, brother and Dr Shristi, have been tested with the infection, have been treating through Remdesivir.

Dr said, “This third time I suffered more... my family and I were hospitalized, needed Remdesivir. My brother and mother have diabetes and my father has hypertension and cholesterol problems. My brother had difficulty breathing, so he was kept on oxygen for two days.”

Dr Shristi is a resident of the Mulund area. Her sample has been collected for genome sequencing. The experts have said that the covid-19 vaccines did not immunize the body completely due to which people with both jabs can be tested positive for the virus, again. They further said that the vaccines are beneficial to cure the infection which is mild or rarely requires hospitalization.

Dr Behram Pardiwala, Chief of Internal Medicine at Mumbai’s Wockhardt Hospital, said, “I have seen patients who became Covid positive after both doses... patients of all ages can have breakthrough infections... but vaccines reduce the effect and help the patient recover quickly.”
