Employment crisis has again arisen for 5 lakh technicians working on the set and other crew members. Technicians and crew members are the most affected by the lockdown in the film industry, giving an annual turnover of about 2.40 lakh crores as most of these people work on daily wedges.

A letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray was written by the Movie and Entertainment Body, which includes all craft unions, broadcasters, and producer bodies. The letter was written in response to Maharashtra's shutdown, which restricts non-essential movement until April
30. The M&E Organization urged CM Thackeray to provide financial assistance to set staff, technicians, and backstage crews.

Not only that, but the letter also indicated that sets that are already being constructed in Mumbai, which is the film industry's hub, must be maintained because otherwise, huge losses could be incurred."We hereby express our wholehearted support to Break the Chain-2 guidelines and fondly hope that your initiative will definitely be successful. We have intimated all the stakeholders in the industry to follow your guidelines in true spirit and ensure that the spread of Corona is restricted totally. Accordingly, M&E industry will be closed for the next 15 days," a part of the letter read.

Pleaded Finance Minister

According to President BN Tiwari, the FWICE has also requested help from Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. He says, “film industry does a turnover of 2.40 lakh crores annually. A little help from the government will not change everyone's life, but we will feel that the government is standing with us. We have bank accounts, PAN numbers of sub workers.”The government has given a package of 5,500 crores for the people of the rest of the trade, Cine Employees should also be included in that.

Incur Loss of 1000 crores if Lockdown Extends
If lockdown prolonged, the industry will incur a loss of at least 1,000 crores. This is a global disaster. We will demand from the government that we get permission to shoot according to the guidelines along with a bio bubble.

Vaccination will be held in Film City itself
Yash Raj Films has said that all the people working for them will get the vaccination done for all. The federation has made arrangements with the support of Vikram Bhatt for a low rate test. People working here will be able to get RT-PCR test for 550 rupees instead of 850. This test will be done every seven days.

FWICE is a 70-year-old Federation. It has 32 craft associations. There are more than 5 lakh people in these associations.
