In preparation forand in order to thwart a possible 3rd wave, the Chief Secretary, Ms ViniMahajan, has released the revised Covid management guidelines for clinicalguidance, robust management, and proper treatment of the patients in the state.

She stated that thePunjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Captain AmarinderSingh was leaving no stone unturned to beat the pandemic.

Chairing the virtualevent attended by more than 220 participants, the Chief Secretary urged alleligible persons aged 18 and above to get themselves vaccinated against Covidat the earliest, to always follow COVID appropriate behaviour, maintain socialdistance to win the battle against the virus.

Lauding the servicesof medical experts, practitioners and all the medical and paramedical staffersduring these trying times, the Chief Secretary said the state governmentsalutes their dedication and selfless services in thwarting the first two Covidwaves successfully.

The team of expertscomprising Dr GD Puri Professor and Head Anaesthesia PGIMER, Dr Vikas Suri, DrAshish Kakkar from PGIMER, Dr Bishav Mohan Professor Cardiology DMC Ludhiana,Dr Anup Singh and Dr Sandeep Kataria from USA, Dr Ajit Kayal from UK and DrVishal Chopra from GMC Patiala under the guidance of Dr KK Talwar, Health andMedical Education Adviser, and Principal Secretary Health and Medical EducationAlok Shekhar have revised the guidelines to tackle the third wave of the virusmore effectively.

Dr Ashwani Sareen,Professor Paediatrics from GMC Amritsar, presented a talk on management ofCovid among children in Punjab. Dr Meenu Singh Professor Paediatrics and DrJayashree Professor Paediatrics PGIMER informed the participants about thelatest management of Covid.

The expert groupinformed that the Covid management guidelines for paediatrics in Punjab will befinalised shortly.
