Custom Department seized gold worth Rs49 Lakh from Amritsar Airport

933.2 grams of gold has been recovered from the passenger

The Amritsar Custom Department seized gold worth Rs 49.27 lakh from a passenger at the airport. The gold was brought from Dubai to India. The passenger was trying to hide the gold in his bag. The accused has been arrested for the interrogation.

The Custom Department officials said that during the X-ray checking of the bags something suspicious was found in a bag. The passenger landed on SpiceJet flight number SG56 and reached Amritsar from Dubai. 8 gold biscuits were found hidden among the luggage in the bag. The police immediately arrested the passenger.

933.2 grams of gold has been recovered from the passenger. The passenger has been arrested under Section 104 Customs Act, 1962.
