In a major development, a man identified as Mohammad Murtaza Ali, originally from Bihar and currently residing in Jalandhar, has been arrested by Gujarat Police in a cyber fraud case. The arrest took place in the Bhargav Camp area of the city, with the support of Jalandhar police. During the operation, authorities recovered four mobile phones and three SIM cards from the accused. Forensic examination of the seized devices reportedly uncovered suspicious phone numbers, videos, and news links related to the India-Pakistan conflict.
Initial information suggests that the accused used to do cyber fraud through a suspicious app. His arrest has been confirmed by Jalandhar Police. At first, it was reported that the accused might be linked to Pakistan's secret service agency, ISI, but Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur clarified that Ali is not a spy, but a cybercriminal involved in multiple fraud cases. The accused has been taken to Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat. Ali, originally hailing from Biha,r was living on rent in Avatar Nagar, Jalandhar.
Ali allegedly developed an app that aggregated Indian news channels and allegedly shared it with Pakistan’s ISI during times of heightened tension between India and Pakistan. The app allowed users in Pakistan to monitor Indian internal affairs in real-time, raising serious security concerns.
Adding to the suspicion, it has come to light that Ali recently purchased a 25-marla plot in Gandhinagar and was in the process of constructing a lavish house estimated at Rs 1.5 crore. An inquiry into his bank accounts revealed transactions worth Rs 40 lakh within a single month. The origin and purpose of these funds are now under investigation by Gujarat's Gandhinagar Police and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).
