Dance reality shows in India are asked to not portray minor children for TRP

The private channels were asked to exercise maximum restraint, sensitivity and caution while presenting such programs

Stringent enforcement is underway as the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued an advisory that is to stop showing children in a vulgar, indecent, and inappropriate way like dance shows and reality shows. The private channels were asked to exercise maximum restraint, sensitivity, and caution while presenting such programs.

The ministry also stated that the Inter-Ministry Committee has suggested that a suitable advisory be issued to all the existing channels in the country after assessing the issue. The Inter-Ministry Committee has been set up to monitor the violations of Program and Advertising code.

In its advisory, the ministry has stated that children between the age group of 5-10 years or of lesser years dance to popular Bollywood tunes or other local songs in dance-based reality shows are prohibited from now on.

And further stated that “The gestures, dialogues and dance moves performed by the kids appear to be suggestive and obscene for their age.”

“No program should be carried in the cable service which denigrates children”

“Care should be taken to ensure that programs meant for children do not contain any bad language or explicit scenes of violence.”
