The resignation of Navjot Sidhu from his post as PPCC Chief has once again put Congress in a big mess. Several Congress leaders and MLAs are continuously visiting Sidhu to listen to his issues and know from him the reason for his resignation.

Meanwhile, putting an end to speculations surrounding the reasons for his resignation, Congress leader Navjot Sidhu on Wednesday through a four-minute video message on twitter clarified his stand and spoke about the reasons for his resignation.

Sidhu in the video raised questions over induction of ‘tainted’ politicians into the cabinet and appointment of corrupt officers in the administration.

He spoke about appointment of Advocate General, APS Deol who had legally defended former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini in Behbal Kalan police firing case, and who is still being investigated for his alleged role in the killing of two Sikh protesters in 2015 when the SAD-BJP combine was in power.

In addition, he also talked about appointing Iqbal Preet Sahota as Punjab DGP. He said, “The collapse of a man's character stems from the compromise corner, I can never compromise on Punjab's future and the agenda for the welfare of Punjab”.

Pointing over DGP Sahota, Sidhu said it’s hard for him to see those ‘tainted officers’ on top position who had given clean chit to Badals. It was Sahota, who had headed the SIT that probed the sacrilege cases in 2015 under the Akali regime.

He alleged, the man (Sahota) who had arrested two innocent Sikh men for the sacrilege, and who was accused of conducting a shoddy investigation then, will deliver justice to people now?

"It is not a personal battle but a fight for principles. I won't compromise on principles," Sidhu said categorically, adding that he will keep fighting the fight for truth till his last breath. “I will never compromise on Punjab's future and the agenda for the welfare of Punjab”, he added.

In the video message in Punjabi, the cricketer-turned-politician, who said his only religion is to make people's lives better, said he had fought for justice and for Punjab's agenda.

"What I witness is a compromise with issues, agenda in Punjab. I can't disguise high command nor can I let them be disguised," he said.

"I don't have any personal rivalry with anyone; 17 years of my political career has been for a purpose, to make difference, to take a stand and to make people's lives better. This is my only religion," he said.
