DC Jalandhar takes second dose of Covid-19 vaccine at Civil Hospital

Exhorts senior citizens and people above 45 with co-morbidities to get vaccinated to protect themselves from the virus; Asks health officials to ensure a hassle-free vaccination experience to visitors at all session sites

Jalandhar, March 4: Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today took the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine at the local Civil Hospital, where he also received a certificate about the completion of the vaccination. After the jab, the deputy commissioner held a meeting with the health officials at the Civil Surgeon office.

The deputy commissioner further called upon the senior citizens and people aged 45 and above with co-morbidities to get vaccinated to ensure protection from the ill-effects of the virus. He urged people not to fall prey to the rumors about the vaccine as it is completely safe and efficacious. Notably, the deputy commissioner had taken the first shot of the vaccine about 28 days ago and today visited the session site located at Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Civil Hospital for the remaining second dose.

Meanwhile, Mr. Thori asked the health officials to ensure a hassle-free vaccination experience to the visitors besides maintaining Covid-appropriate behavior at all session sites across the district. He categorically mentioned that any kind of callousness in this crucial task would be unwarranted; hence all officials must accord their top priority to sincerely conducting this vaccination task. The deputy commissioner also reviewed the availability of beds for level-2 and level-3 patients at the healthcare establishments and directed officials to ensure these beds are available 24X7, especially in the wake of an upsurge in the new infections.

The deputy commissioner also lauded the selfless services rendered by the healthcare and frontline workers during the pandemic and further encouraged them to upkeep the same spirit.

The deputy commissioner was apprised that no adverse effect of the Covid-19 vaccine was reported in the district adding the health department was ensuring round the clock vigil to all the beneficiaries who were administered the vaccine doses. The district immunization officer Rakesh Kumar informed that that the vaccination facilities are available at several hospitals and would soon be started in all the government and empanelled private hospitals in the district.

Prominent among others present on the occasion included Civil Surgeon Dr. Balwant Singh, Medical Superintendent Parminder Kaur, and District Immunization Officer Rakesh Kumar.
