While people are often seen complaining that their problems are not resolved in the government offices of Punjab, Sonali Giri, deputy commissioner of the district Roopnagar has emerged as an exception in this case.
Sonali Giri, who has always been in the spotlight due to her flamboyant image, not only slammed the officials but allotted them a particular time limit to fix the problem. Reportedly, the natives of the city visited the DC office to file a complaint after filthy drinking water was being poured from their house taps. Even natives visited the office by filling bottles with dirty/impure water.
DC Giri also warned the officials to settle the issue in stipulated time else stern action will be taken against them if she will reach the municipality office to fix the problem herself.
Hearing this, the city council administration rushed to fulfill the order given.
As per the information acquired from the sources, on Wednesday DC Giri was leaving the office for some work when she saw a group of people standing outside, waiting to talk to her. She asked her driver to stop the car and went on to hear the matter. The residents, who were worried about the supply of filthy water, promptly called the EO of the municipality from her phone and ordered him to resolve the matter by today itself till 4 in the evening.
She even told the EO to not make excuses to fix the problem of mixing sewerage water in the water supply of the area. Otherwise, I will have to come myself and then it is going to be very difficult, DC Sonali Giri warned this bluntly.

When Sonali Giri rebuked the EO for a quick solution to the problem, the EO did not respond and he started to allege others for not solving the problem. EO said that the team has been sent, sewerage is the issue of the board, the disposals are closed as excuses were made by EO but bypassing all his arguments, DC warned in stern terms to resolve the issue by 4:00 pm.
On the directions of DC, the executive of the Municipal Council hurriedly sent a team of officers and staff of the Engineering Council to the spot, and not only the problem of the people was resolved but the report was given to DC. Though it was past 4:00 in the meantime, people were very happy about this quick settlement work on commands of DC and people said that if all the officials will start doing similar work after getting inspired by her people would no more face any problems.
