DCP Balkar Singh Issues Various Ban Orders

These orders would be in force till March 2, 2021.

O/O District Public Relations Officer, Jalandhar - Deputy Commissioner of Police Balkar Singh on Friday issued various prohibitory orders to maintain the law and order in the city.

In first order, he has banned the sale/purchase and storage of Chinese string or plastic thread in the district. The order has been issued under section 144 of CRPC. He said that this string is very harmful and can easily cause injury to animals and humans. He further added that these plastic strings do not break easily and commuters on two-wheelers and animals often get entangled in these leading to bruises.

DCP has also directed that all villages falling under Commissionerate police’s jurisdiction should hold night ‘Thikri Pehras’ (night patrol) from 8 pm to 5 pm in their villages. He asked the panchayats to inform SHOs of their areas regarding the details of persons who will be part of ‘Thikri Pehra’ teams.

He has also ordered that the firecrackers noise level at the boundary of the public places, where loudspeaker of the public address system is being used must not exceed 10 dB (A) above the ambient noise standards for the area 7.5 dB (A) whichever is lower, banned playing of DJs or loud music systems, no horn should be used between 10 pm to 6 am.

DCP further ordered that the city residents have to inform the nearby police Sanjh Kendras about the servant and any type of worker, employed in their homes or factories or tenants living in PGs or other accommodations, with their complete information about background, original residential addresses and other details.

In a separate order, all the hotels, guest houses, resorts and any other public accommodation that is used for a temporary stay, would have to keep the records of all the people who seek the accommodation in their premises. The authorities have to get a copy of the identity card, mobile number, the purpose of staying or visiting the place, details of people one has with him or her, number of days that one has to stay, room number. In the case of any foreigner staying in their premises, they have to inform the head of the Foreigners Registration Office (Commissionerate Police), he added.

Singh also ordered the shopkeepers who sell army prints clothes and uniforms, to keep a record of the buyers.  DCP said that it has been found that shopkeepers do not maintain any record of the sale of army prints clothes and uniforms.  Offenders can disturb law and order situations or commit a crime in the city by wearing army, paramilitary uniforms, he added.

Deputy Commissioner of Police has banned any type of procession, carrying of firearms in procession, gathering of five or more persons and raising slogans in the jurisdiction of Commissionerate police.

He also ordered the owners of all marriage places, hotels and banquet halls to install CCTV cameras in their premises for the maintenance of law and order falling in the jurisdiction of Commissionerate Police.

Further, in order to maintain the law and order in the city, the deputy commissioner of Police also banned the carrying of any kind of sharp-edged weapons, baseball bat or any deadly weapons in the vehicles.

He said that these orders would be in force till March 2, 2021.
