Four people of the same family were killed as a tipper truck overturned on their car on the Moga-Barnala Highway. Five people were travelling in the car out of which the 4 deceased were adults and the survivor was a little girl. They were reportedly residents of Rajasthan and were attending a wedding function in Moga. The tipper filled with stones overturned on the car crushing it and its occupants.
The family was travelling in a Hyundai i20 and were at a crossing on the main highway when a loaded tipper was oncoming from the other side. Their car was in its way while they were crossing. The tipper had to swerve in order to avoid crashing into the car. The momentum of the heavy vehicle caused it to lose control and flip. The car which had 5 occupants got crushed beneath its weight.
The 5 occupants of the vehicle all belonged to the same family. 2 of the deceased were brothers and the other 2 were their wives. There was a child along with the family who reportedly is the only one survive. They were from Ganganagar, Rajasthan and were attending a wedding function at Moga.
An ambulance was called on the spot to transport the bodies to a nearby hospital.
