While the film was becoming famous, the hero of this film Rajeev Kapoor was growing angry with his father. After this film, Rajeev Kapoor and Raj Kapoor became unhappy. 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili' just remained confined around Raj Kapoor and Mandakini. Rajeev Kapoor did not get any benefit from the film being a hit.

Mandakini became a star overnight after a film, but Rajeev Kapoor remained there. He believed that Raj Kapoor is responsible for this. Actually, Rajeev Kapoor wanted Raj Kapoor to make another film for him after 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili'. They project him like a hero in that film so that the benefit of being a star, which Mandakini had got, now he gets in this film.

Despite Rajeev Kapoor's fondness, Raj Kapoor did not do so and Rajeev was hired by Raj Kapoor as an assistant. He would get him to do all the work of the unit which used to be a spotboy and assistant. After 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili', Rajiv Kapoor appeared in films like 'Lover Boy', 'Angare', 'Jaljala', 'Thank You', 'Hum To Chale Pardes', but his films did not work.
