When Northern India was finally taking a sign of relief from floods that took place in early July, Uttarakhand is yet again on alert due to incessant rain. As per reports, continuous rain has been wreaking havoc in Uttarakhand for the past 24 hours. The seriousness of the Uttarakhand rains is such that the Dehradun Defence College building in Uttarakhand's Maldevta collapsed like a deck of cards due to torrential incessant rain in the region. Not only this, but the meteorological department has also issued an alert while heavy rain continues to pour down in Uttarakhand's Dehradun and Champawat. Now, Dehradun Defence College building is doing rounds on social media and netizens are indeed terrified by the horrific visuals.

In the viral video, it can be seen the Dehradun Defence College building which is situated near a river-like area getting washed away. Rain can also be seen in the video and a four-to-five storey college building being washed away in the Uttarakhand rains. Going by the visuals, it can be said that there was no one inside or nearby when Dehradun Defence College collapsed.

Seeing the video, a user wrote, "That's devastating! Looks like the river changed course."

Another user wrote, "The building itself looks like an antique piece so it will be hard for it to survive the river changing course."

"Why so near to river construction done, should be out of red line of flood," wrote another user.

One more user wrote, "Looks like a illegal structure built right in the flood plains of the river. Why the heck do we not listen to nature!"

Coming back to the Uttarakhand rains, all schools and Anganwadi centres will be closed on August 14 due to the red alert situation in both districts. As per the meteorological department, till August 15 Uttarakhand might see severe rainfall. Some districts have been placed on Red Alert, while others have been placed on Orange Alert. Heavy rainfall also caused flood-like situation in Maldevta area of Uttarakhand's Dehradun. The Meterological department in its statement informed, "Very heavy to extremely heavy rain/ thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and very intense to extremely intense spell is very likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar in next 24 hours." It is pertinent to mention here that earlier on Saturday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for August 13 and 14 in Uttarakhand. IMD predicted that Uttarakhand will likely see heavy rains on August 13 and 14.
